The Forum for Shared Governance is a clearing house for promoting and disseminating research about shared governance and similar organizational innovations that help empower nurses and other healthcare professionals in their workplaces. It is also a place where healthcare professionals involved in shared governance models can exchange ideas, support, and education.

The Forum believes that innovations that allow staff, managers, and patients to share control and influence over their healthcare organizations can improve clinical, organizational, and professional outcomes. The Forum further believes that staff and managers need ongoing support and education to effectively participate in the governance of these organizations.

That said, we hope that you will use this online community to enhance the effectiveness of your shared governance programs.

Thank you for allowing me to participate in this very exciting opportunity. I am anxious to share ideas on how to best utilize our Unit Based Shared Govenance Councils and focus on the most meaningful areas that they can impact.

Dr. Hess - Thank you for inviting me to join this group - I am hoping that it will allow me to ask relevant questions and share my experiences. Our organization is in the beginning stages of a shared governance journey and this is a wonderful forum to use as a resource. Jenny Pierce

Thank you for developing this excellent resource. I'd like to share with the group that I'm developing a program evaluation project using the IPNG to evaluate our network's nursing shared governance organization. We're using the IPNG to provide preliminary assessment and will then develop an action plan based on our findings. We hope to use a subsequent IPNG administration to see if our targeted interventions improve performance in some of the challenging areas. I'll keep checking on this site for words of wisdom and ideas. I'll keep you posted. Patti
